Why We Started Sakkathh Angi & I

A Story of land, culture & coming back home!

Some brands are born out of trends.
Sakkatth Angi & I was born out of gratitude.

We’ve always believed that when a land gives you everything
your language, your identity, your courage, your way of seeing the world
you owe it something in return.

For us, that land is Karnataka.
ನಮ್ಮ ಮಣ್ಣು. ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ.

Giving back to what gave us everything

We grew up surrounded by stories carved in stone, sung in folk songs, whispered through generations.
Kings, rebels, thinkers, workers, artists.
A culture that didn’t just survive history, but shaped it.

Somewhere along the way, we felt a responsibility.
Not out of obligation but out of love.

We always wanted to give back something meaningful
to the land and culture that shaped who we are today.
Not in museums.
Not locked in textbooks.
But alive, wearable, visible.

That’s where the idea began.

Watching the youth, and asking the hard question

We watched our generation celebrate cultures from across the world Korean pop, streetwear from the West, aesthetics from everywhere else.

And honestly?
There’s nothing wrong with that.

But one question kept bothering us:

Why are we so excited to wear someone else’s culture,
but hesitate to wear our own?

Karnataka’s culture is one of the richest, boldest, most layered cultures in the world.
Yet, it rarely shows up in everyday fashion — especially streetwear.

That silence didn’t sit right with us.

Making culture cool — without diluting it

We didn’t want to “modernise” culture by weakening it.
We wanted to translate it — honestly.

Streetwear became our language.
Because the street is where culture breathes.

Every design, every line, every drop is rooted in:

Kannada thought, Local stories, Rebel spirit!

More than clothing. It’s a movement.

Sakkatth Angi & I is our way of saying:
You don’t have to look outside to feel proud.
You don’t have to borrow identity.

Wear your land.
Wear your language.
Wear your story.

Because celebrating our culture doesn’t make us smaller
it makes us stronger.
